930 Liberty St
Erie, Pennsylvania 16502

Erie, Pennsylvania: On Saturday, January 17, 2009 – Penn Action will host the 2nd Invest in America’s Future Community Roundtable at Temple Anshe Hesed (930 Liberty Street), which follows the initial and very successful Invest in America’s Future Community Roundtable held on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at St James AME Church http://yourerie.com/content/fulltext/?cid=37351.

The purpose of the community roundtable - in view of the up-coming 500+ BILLION dollar ‘second stimulus package’ – is for Greater Erie to be better prepared with a priority list of funding requests:

• Job creation via infrastructure investment
• Health care and social service funding
• Green technology investment/energy conservation
• Food bank inventories and food stamp program enhancement
• Housing (mortgage assistance) and extra shelter capacity
• Expanded LIHEAP funding
• Extended unemployment benefits
• Mass transportation funding

Representative Pat Harkins will once again be the keynote speaker, joined by Representative Florindo Fabrizio.

Headlining the roundtable panel will be Amy Cuzzola-Kern (Congresswoman Dahlkemper staff member - District Director of Health, Human Services and Education), Pastor Anthony Calgren (President, C.A.L.L. – Congregational Action to Lift Lives), John Schultz (CEO Community Health Net), and Dr Tony Snow (Chief Medical Officer, Community Health Net) – who will present Community Health Net patients with first hand testimony as to the need for expanded health care funding.

Benefits of this ‘community roundtable’ include:

1. Begin to build an ‘advice and community support’ structure, that incorporates political and citizen stakeholders.

2. Involve community and opinion leaders to work together with our new Congresswoman Kathy Dahlkemper to effectively deal with the economic crisis.

3. Give community and opinion leaders a first hand experience with our new Congresswoman Kathy Dahlkemper as a willing listener, learner, and one who actively wants to hear their concerns, ideas and opinions. Democratize her representation.
