This introductory Hanafi fiqh course will cover the major elements of purity (taharah) and prayer (salah). In addition, a short biographical sketch of the leading early Hanafi legal figures will be studied. The text for this course is the English translation of Shurunbulali's Nur al-Idah. Nur al-Idah is a primary text in Hanafi Fiqh.
Hafiz Amir Toft. A Chicago native, Amir Toft completed his memorization of the Quran in 2002 at the Institute of Islamic Education (in west Chicago) and completed his Arabic studies and primary Islamic studies there. He is currently taking hiatus from his studies to serve as principal of the Institute of Islamic Education's middle school/high school program. He has translated several traditional Islamic works into English, and is at work on several small publications for students of the Arabic language.
