This class introduces three basic Buddhist meditation practices: mindfulness of breathing, cultivation of lovingkindness (metta bhavana), and walking meditation, with time for discussion and Q&A. These practices provide a balanced basis for the development of insight, clarity, and compassion. Class size is limited---please pre-register if possible by contacting the Center with with payment or a deposit. Suggested donation $25-$45, all welcome.

The SFBC, located in the Mission district near 21st/Valencia, is part of the Friends of the Western Buddhist Order (FWBO), an international network of public centers, communities, ethical businesses, and social projects. Founded in England in 1968 by Urgyen Sangharakshita, the FWBO is based in central teachings that are common to all the main Buddhist schools.

Our community is dedicated to supporting the development of spiritual friendship among those who wish to experience the benefits of Buddhist practice and believe that it can make a constructive contribution to the modern world.
