This class will teach you the fundamentals of knitting: how to cast on, knit, purl, and cast off. These are the basic tools that, once mastered, can be used to further explore the craft.

Participants in this class will learn the Continental method of knitting. This is a technique that started many years ago in Central Europe and is a little harder to teach, but once it is learned, it is a much more efficient way to knit (you will be happy you learned this way!). Participants will work towards making a potholder (which can be taken home at the end of class) or continue building on their piece and use that as the beginning of a scarf.

Please bring the following materials: knitting needles (recommended size 8 or 9 and ideally not longer than 10”) a medium or bulky weight yarn that you would want your potholder or scarf to be made from.
