Local Speech Pathologist to Speak at Infant Sign Language Workshop
for Parents and Professionals

Saturday, May 12, 2007, FasTracKids Enrichment Center in Tierrasanta

FasTracKids, a provider of early-childhood enrichment education, will host a three-hour infant sign language workshop for parents and professionals who care for infants and toddlers ages six to 24 months on Saturday, May 12, 2007 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at FasTracKids in Tierrasanta, 6020-B Santo Road, San Diego (92124).

The FasTrack Signing workshop is led by Sharla Hank, a sign language instructor, and features guest speaker Amy Miller, a speech language pathologist from Rady Childrens Hospital. Participants in this three-hour fun, interactive workshop will learn more than 30 family-friendly American Sign Language (ASL) signs and strategies to make signing simple, fun, and interactive from the very first day. Parents, caregivers and child development professionals will also learn how to recognize and identify a childs early signs before fine motor skills are developed. More information about this ASL workshop is available at sdenrichmentplace.com.

Teaching ASL to infants and toddlers can eliminate the guessing game to determine what their child wants or needs, and there is a reduction in a childs frustration and tantrums. Infants and toddlers who learn ASL often grow their spoken language development more rapidly than their peers, and become early talkers.

Parents and child development professionals are also welcome to attend. The cost is $50 for an individual; $80 for a couple. Supervised childcare is available for $15 per child. Reservations are highly recommended, as space is limited. To RSVP, please call the FasTracKids Enrichment Center in Tierrasanta at (858) 565-0054 by May 1, 2007.
