Acoustic sounds from Brazil, Africa and India combined with improvisation will create an evening of music celebrating the release of the CD, Into the Mystery. This concert features a new global hybrid acoustic instrument called the hang (pronounced "hung"), joined by various other instruments from India, Africa, Brazil, Europe and Hawaii. The sonic journey takes place on Saturday, December 11 at Rudramandir Yoga Sanctuary in Berkeley, CA at 8pm. Tickets are $20 in advance, and $25 at the door.

On stage together for the first time, internationally-recognized local musicians perform with special guest performer David Worm, who co-founded the a cappella group, SoVoSó, and tours internationally with Bobby McFerrin. Into the Mystery brings together an unusual combination of talent and instruments: Destani Wolf on voice, Moses Sedler on cello, Aharon Wheels Bolsta on tabla and bansuri flute, Alan Tower on hang, Peter Burnhardt on guitar and ukelele and Gary Muszynski on the hang, udu, berimbau, and mbira. ABOUT THE HANG INSTRUMENT
Born in the year 2001, the hang combines the sounds of the steel drum from Trinidad, the gong from Indonesia and the udu clay drum from Nigeria. The name comes from the Swiss Bernese dialect. "Hang" literally means the slope of a mountain or alternatively, hand. It is truly a global instrument that echoes the sounds of many traditional cultures, yet is fabricated with advanced metallurgy.
