Early March will be an inspiring time in the Mission District of SF as artists and performers launch a series of activities, at four venues, to celebrate International Women's Day (March 8) with music, dance, feasting, poetry and more.
Festivities begin at 7 pm on Sunday, March 2, at Dance Mission Theater, 3316 24th (at Mission) with INMANCENCIA, a magical ceremony of dance, improvisation, performance art, astrology, music and healing to awaken the sacred in our daily lives. The cover charge is $10.

INMANCENCIA performers will include RoboXolotl (formerly of the Pocha Nostra Troupe headed by Guillermo Gomez-Pena), Shirley Kollman on trapeze, metaphysical performer Nadja Haas, and the women of Automatic Art. More about the venue can be found at http://www.dancemission.com.

Then from noon to 5 pm on Friday, March 7, healers, drummers and performers will gather at Hummingbird Plaza (at the corner of Mission and 16th St.) for a community offering called LIMPIAS DE LUNA NEGRA. Organizers will offer blessings, healing, clearing, smudge, copal, fresh water and drumming to all who attend.

On the night of Friday, March 7, singer/songwriters MamaCoAtl and Pepa Quiroga will pay tribute to LAS MUJERES EN SU LUNA in a fun-inspired concert that plays with concepts that have become politically incorrect, such as the act of "parir" (to give birth), "cocinar" (to cook) and "parrandear" (to go on a spree). This concert will be held at L's Caf
