Flagstaff, AZ.
New Frontiers Natural Marketplace invites you to “International
Viewpoints,” a show of photographic images from the international
travels of NAU professors, Greg Glau and Greg Larkin, during the
month of May at New Frontiers Natural Marketplace in Flagstaff
during store hours.

As friends, professors and creative artists, Glau and Larkin share
a similar point of view. Both agree that photography is the best
medium to capture the instantaneous changes inherent in nature,
including the patterns of light on an object or the expression on
a child’s face. Digital photography also allows for hundreds of
“practice” shots to be taken, allowing the photographer a wide range
of choices in the final selection.
Greg Larkin selected photos for this show from recent trips to
Europe and India. Based on a “range of viewpoints,” Larkin
sometimes merges different photos in collages and displays
multiple shots of the same subject together. Other photos are
stand alone. In either case, “I try to enhance the interactions
between the viewer, the artist and the photographs by having
the photographs interact with each other, not just the viewers,”
he says.
Greg Glau chose his photos of the Mediterranean regions which
Illustrate the people and architecture, emphasizing how natural
light carves out patterns, making each photo distinctive and original.
Glau is inspired by “unusual angles and perspectives, things we all
see, but don’t see.”
Greg Glau is Associate Professor and Director of the University Writing Program at Northern Arizona University. Starting with a small Kodak camera as a teenager, Greg later moved to using a film SLR and now,
a Nikon digital camera. Greg’s prints now hang in the Dean's office of
the College of Arts and Letters. In the fall of 2011, with his daughter
Trace Glau, Greg will be doing a “father-daughter” art show for
August’s Friday Art Walk, at La Bellavia restaurant. The photographs
in this show at New Frontiers all came from a trip to the Mediterranean in 2010.
You can see more of Greg's photographs at http://www.pbase.com/gglau/cw,
selected photographs are for sale at http://gglau.zenfolio.com/.
Greg Larkin is a Professor of English at Northern Arizona University,
specializing in business and professional writing. He enjoys world travel
and capturing images of the landscape and the way people live in differing
settings and circumstances. He has worked on his photographs via classes
from Nikon, from Coconino Community College, and from NAU. For more
information or discussion, or to see more photographs, go to Cafe Pickles
in Flagstaff or to http://www.yessy.com/gregorylarkin
