Los Angeles, California 90049

Take a gastronomic tour of Italy, France, Turkey, and Japan and experience their culinary and cultural traditions at favorite Los Angeles–area restaurants. For thousands of years, Jews have been dispersed in the Diaspora, and wherever they have lived—including these four countries—Jews have been indelibly influenced by the local culture. They have also made unique contributions to their adopted society and surroundings. One way to experience these contributions is through the local cuisine of the places where Jews have made their homes around the world. During each session of this dining club, participants will enjoy an excellent dinner while a native from one of the four featured countries gives an overview about Jewish life in his or her respective culture. Students will receive recipes of each restaurant’s signature dishes. Restaurant locations and maps will be provided upon registration. Students of all faiths are welcome.

Facilitator: Ruth Broyde-Sharone is co-founder of the Festival of Freedom, a movement to foster friendship and peace. She is a documentary filmmaker and the producer/director of the film God and Allah Need to Talk.
