Aimee has been invited to speak by the organizers of this worldwide day of events calling for the eradication of poverty.

As part of a global project, St. Mary's Center is excited to be hosting an observance of the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty: Oakland Stepping Up.

On October 17, 1987, over 100,000 people gathered at the Plaza of Human Rights in Paris to pay tribute to the victims of extreme poverty, violence, hunger, and ignorance. A Commemorative Stone was laid, on which was engraved the following:
"Whenever men and women are condemned to live in extreme poverty, human rights are violated. To come together to ensure that these rights be respected is our solemn duty." www.Oct17.org
