GUEST LECTURE:
Elizabeth Elango, West Africa Program Officer of Heifer Project International, who will be presenting "Heifer: A grass roots approach." (12:30 to 1:00 p.m.) Elizabeth Elango started working with Heifer Project in July 2000. Originally from Cameroon, West Africa, she moved to the United States in 1993 to attend college. She studied International Affairs at Kennesaw State University in Georgia, earning a Bachelors Degree, before going to do a Masters in African Studies at Yale University. After finishing her studies she studied Swahili as a Fulbright Scholar in Zanzibar, East Africa and worked briefly in South Africa, Kenya and Tanzania. Elizabeth joined Heifer International because of her belief in the mission of the organization and because of her commitment to development, especially in Africa. She worked in the development office in Decatur, GA and is currently the West Africa Program Officer. In 2002 she moved to Little Rock to begin her new job. In this position Elizabeth facilitates all programmatic aspects of the area program as it relates to West Africa, providing support of field offices and acting as a liaison between headquarters and the field in this area.
