IIC Announces 'International Caricature Contest' With Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi As Theme. The Indian Institute of Cartoonists (IIC) announced its first ever International Caricature Contest with the theme of caricatures as Sri Manmohan Singh and Smt Sonia Gandhi, at a press meet here today. Addressing media persons on the occasion, V G Narendra, Managing Trustee, IIC said that the contest is open to all professional and amateur cartoonists from all over the world and the last date of submitting the caricatures will be 15th November 2009. Sri. R V Deshpande, Chairman, V R Deshpande Memorial Trustee, who is the Sponsor of the contest, while speaking on the occasion, expressed his views on the importance of caricatures and the necessity to promote the dying art. 'Prizes of Rs.l,00,000/- each as the first prize will be given to selected best caricatures of Sri. Manmohan Singh and Smt. Sonia Gandhi. Second prize will be Rs.50, 000/- each, Third prize will be Rs.10,000/- each and 3 consolation prizes of Rs.5000/- each will be given away in the month of January 2010 in Bangalore' apprised V G Narendra. The criteria for selecting the best caricature would be the creativity the artist comes up with. A 4 Member jury headed by Justice.M.N. Venkatachaliah, Former Chief Justice of India, Dr.U.R. Ananthamurthy, Jnanapitha Awardee, Mr.V.G. Andani, Eminent Artist and Mr. Keshav, Well-known Cartoonist will be selecting the best caricatures.
