International Blues Challenge November 7, 2010

# TGGBS Presents blues shows and concerts featuring the best of Bay Area and National Blues artists and supporting our community of fans, artists and venues

The International Blues Challenge - In 2011, we're going to send someone from the Bay Area to The Blues Foundation's annual competition and you get to select who goes!

This will be a fundraiser to help pay travel and lodging expenses to send the winning band to Memphis.

The winners in the four preliminary International Blues Challenge (IBC) rounds, J.C. Smith Band, Twice as Good, Wendy DeWitt & Kirk Harwood and Tip of the Top, will compete at the TGGBS Final.
One of these bands will be chosen to represent The Golden Gate Blues Society at The Blues Foundation’s International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN between February 2 and 5, 2011.

We have a distinguished panel of Judges who will participate in selecting the winning band along with our members and non-members. They are Barbara Hammerman, veteran Judge of past Memphis International Blues Challenges and 2009 recipient of The Blues Foundations' Keeping the Blues Alive Award; Kathleen Lawton, KCSM Blues DJ; and, Lee Hildebrand, Journalist for Living Blues and other notable publications. The M.C. for the event will be KPOO blues DJ Noel Hayes.

Save this date – we are going all out with this event – raffle, silent auction and the chance to send the band of your choice to Memphis. This could be the career boost of a lifetime for one of our bands. We are very pleased to announce that the winner of the final will be the opening act for the Robert Cray show at the newly reopened Fox Theater in Redwood City on November 12th. www.foxrwc.com

The Club Illusions is a beautiful venue with a parking garage in back conveniently located right off El Camino Real. Dancers are welcome!
