The Dallas Peace Center Dismantling Racism Team is partnering with other anti-racism teams and organizational leaders to provide a free public dialogue and panel presentation on the topic of Institutional and Systemic Racism. This is especially with consideration to the voice of communities of color and others who actively care about this issue. Following panelist presentations, Rev. Holsey Hickman will moderate panel and audience discussion. Group discussions on key issues will follow.
The Panelists are:
José Angel Gutiérrez, JD, PhD – An attorney and Professor of Political Science at the University of Texas at Arlington. He has authored several books and articles, served in public office, received honors and featured in PBS, and founded a political party, university program, and organizations related to Mexican Americans, politics and education.
Dr. Beverly Mitchell-Brooks - President and CEO of the Dallas Urban League. Previously served as the Executive Director of the Greater Dallas Community Relations Commission.
Michael Phillips, PhD - Researcher at the Center for American History at the University of Texas at Austin and the author of White Metropolis - Race, Ethnicity, and Religion in Dallas 1841 - 2001.
