Installation-Pop-Aesthetics is Natural Canvas?s latest art exhibition set to open on Friday April 15th. Works from internationally known pop artist Jamie Roxx, installation artist Alison Bates and 4 artists from SuperiorBellly.com will be on desplay. Installation-Pop-Aesthetics brings together styles which are rarely exhibited together. Jamie Roxx will be unveiling 15 new Pop Noir paintings, Alison Bates will envelope the dungeon gallery with an expansive ultra thick texturalized paper wall covering, and the Superior Belly collective will utilize their innate ability to achieve powerful aesthetics represented in mediums ranging from video to mixed media and beyond.
Jamie Roxx?s Pop Noir images not only grace the private collections of many of the country's influential and powerful business and industry leaders, they have also been aquired by museums such as The Rock Museum of Munich, The Rock N? Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, and The Centre de Pompidou in Paris. Roxx emerged onto the contemporary art scene in the early 1990s in the hard-edged Detroit inner-city and has since taken off to become one of North Americas premiere pop artists. Jamie will be arriving from San Francisco to attend the reception.
Alison J. Bates is a Detroit based artist who states, ?We try to make sense of everything we are presented with. So if you gave an audience no information, and then asked them what they'd been given, what would they come up with? I bet they'd find something, that was intended or non-intended, just to alleviate their discomfort. In this installation, the viewer is forced to deal with layers of plastered paper which lack image via either removal of the image or the nonexistence of the image. The overpowering structure becomes both a reminder and a remainder, preserving the lack of image and therefore elevating its importance.?
Superior Belly is a collaborative of professionals working collectively and individually to produce art and design concerned with artistic and social value. The group has been in operation for 4+ years, centered in Port Huron they operate in animation, fine art, illustration, and video with
social concerns in mind.
