Director/co-writer Luis Mandoki's (When a Man Loves a Woman) poignant drama reflects on the plight of parents and their children in conflicts around the world. Chava (Carlos Padilla) is an 11-year-old boy caught in the middle of the 1980s civil war in El Salvador. He has the choice of taking up arms as a guerilla or waiting until he is 12 and eligible for the Salvadorian Army, but his mother Kella (Leonor Varela, The Tailor of Panama) will do anything to keep him out of harm's way.
