On July 4th – 13th, 2011 three of the most prominent Buddhist teachers in the West will open the sacred grounds of their holy retreat space to the public to host teachings on compassion, wisdom, and the benefits of meditation. The retreat site at Diamond Mountain in Arizona is home to 40 advanced practitioners who are undergoing a historic three year silent retreat entitled, Retreat for Peace. These 40 practitioners have been training for over 6 years to prepare themselves for the rigorous 3 year journey into deep solitude. Retreat for Peace is a rare undertaking by 40 Buddhist practitioners in the West to explore the inner space of the mind, seek a cure for suffering, and find a repeatable path toward peace and happiness for all who seek it.

The extended silent retreat is based on an ancient lineage of Tibetan Buddhism and is rarely seen in this size and scope in the Western Hemisphere. In an unprecedented effort to share this monumental effort with others, three teachers connected with the retreat have decided to host a series of teachings called Inner World, Outer World: Retreat, Meditation and The Way of Selfless Love. These rare teachings will share insights and realizations emerging directly from the heart of stillness.

This summit of the foremost minds on extended Buddhist retreat and dharmic teachings will feature prominent Buddhist monk Geshe Michael Roach, Buddhist scholar and monk Lama Sumati Marut and leading female Buddhist teacher Lama Christie McNally. Lama Christie is the spiritual director of Retreat for Peace, and is currently completing her second three year silent retreat. Her desire in initiating these teachings is to make it possible for others to feel a part of the retreat and to share in the profound blessings of silence.

The teachings will be held at Diamond Mountain in Bowie Arizona, two hours east of Tucson, in Cochise County. The teachings are free but registration is required and space limited. For more information and to register please visit http://www.greatretreatteachings.org
