Since their self-titled debut in 1989, the Indigo Girls have continually pushed the boundaries of modern music and of themselves to make some of the most deeply emotional and well-loved albums of their time. Going against many of the traditional stereotypes of the music industry, Amy Ray and Emily Saliers have always made music their own way. Their two-women-with-guitars formula may not seem very revolutionary on paper, but the combination of two distinct personalities and songwriting styles provides tension and an interesting balance.
