On hand at the zoo will be Indianapolis Prize winner Iain Douglas-Hamilton, one of the world's foremost authorities on elephant conservation. The Indianapolis Prize is a prestigious award given every other year to an individual who has made a significant contribution to conservation efforts. Douglas-Hamilton pioneered the first in-depth scientific study on elephant social behavior, which has set the standard for every consecutive study. At the lecture, he will discuss his work and the importance of protecting the African elephant.
