Indian Independence Celebration September 15, 2007

The Fairfax Symphony Orchestra is proud to present Dr. L. Subramaniam, the Paganini of Indian classical music and foremost composer of East-West fusion music, in the first of two new International Heritage Concerts.

Dr. Subramaniam has composed Freedom Symphony especially for this performance, celebrating the 60th Anniversary of India's independence, and featuring his wife, Kavita Krishnamurti Subramaniam, one of India's most celebrated Hindi film singers.

Dr. Subramaniam's passion and endless curiosity for all kinds of music have led to other historic collaborations and more than 150 recordings with musicians of many different genres including Stephane Grappelli, Yehudi Menuhin, Herbie Hancock, Al Jarreau, Maynard Ferguson, Jean Luc Ponty, and George Harrison.
