15 Science Centre Road
Singapore, Central Singapore

Conducted by Professor Anthony Ryan, Pro-Vice Chancellor in the Faculty of Science at the University of Sheffield, the STAR Lecture will begin with the perspective of being on the 3rd rock from the sun and discuss the ways in which life, and human beings, have evolved over billions of years to our current world population of 6 billion. However, because of this massive populace, the amount of food and fossil fuels are dwindling fast.

This lecture will address the major challenges faced by mankind in the 21st century, including how to provide sufficient energy and food, against the threat of increasing global climate change and how to find new ways to use solar energy more effectively.

The STAR lecture is modeled after the highly popular Christmas lectures in the UK, which are fun–filled and demonstration-packed lectures designed to get young people fired up about science.
Pre-registration is required for the general public.
