BACKGROOUND
Hypertension provides both despair and hope. Despair because it's quantitively the largest risk factor for cardiovascular disease, is growing in prevalence and poorly controlled virtualy everywhere. Hope because prevention is possible (though reallly achieved) and because treatment can controlled hyoertension is almost all patients with consequent marked reduction in stroke, heart attack and also renal disease.
The overall worldwide prevalence of hypertension approximately 26 % of the adult population, with marked differences between countries.
Primary prevention has been found to be possible though the rising number the obesity seriously questions the ability to implement the necessary lifestyle changes in today's world faster food and slower physical activity.
In the meeting, the overall problem of hypertension will be discussed, and these generalities will be amplified into practical ways to evaluate and treat hypertension in its various presentation.
