In the Works: Silk Road Theater Project January 15, 2011

Returning for a second season to Millennium Park is the theater lab series, In The Works, where audiences have a chance to sit indoors on the stage of the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in a climate controlled environment to experience works in development by local theater artists. The 2010-2011 season, supported by a grant from The Boeing Company, continues with Silk Road Theatre Project's production of 'Dawn's Light: The Journey of Gordon Hirabayashi.' The U.S. government's decision in 1941 to imprison all people of Japanese ancestry who lived on the west coast turned 24 year old Gordon Hirabayashi into a crusader. This solo show chronicles the true story of one Japanese American's enduring fight for his constitutional rights. 'Dawn's Light' faithfully documents Gordon's historic decision to heed his conscience and pursue his faith in the Constitution all the way to the Supreme Court.
