Rhythmic Concepts present…IN THE NAME OF LOVE The 6th Annual Musical Tribute honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at The Oakland Scottish Rite Center - 1547 Lakeside Dr. on Sunday, Jan. 20 at 7:30 pm. Presented each January, this cultural, civic and soulful celebration is Oakland’s only non-denominational musical tribute to Dr. King - one of the greatest humanitarians of our time. This year’s featured performers include: Linda Tillery and the Cultural Heritage Choir, an unprecedented vocal duo with renown jazz singer Rhiannon and local gospel great Terrance Kelly; The Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir, and The Oakland Children’s Community Choir, backed up by the Oaktown Jazz Workshop. The keynote address will be given by Ray Taliaferro, KGO Radio The emcee for the evening is Clifford Brown, Jr. (KDYA, KCSM). Archival footage of Dr. King’s moving oratories projected on a larger-than-life screen throughout the evening, the presentation of the 4th Oakland Citizen Humanitarian Award, and an opening prayer by religious leaders all help make this one of Oakland's most significant events.
