An offering of music to inspire reflection and contemplation to mark the beginning of Holy Week, performed on period instruments.

Works performed include a dramatic setting of the Trosi?me Leçon du Jeudy Saint, S.121, and selections from the Miserere ? voix seule of Michel-Richard Delalande, one of the great composers of the grand si?cle and a prolific composer of sacred music; petites motets by Nicolas Bernier, André Campra, and François Couperin; and a piece written specifically for viola da gamba and theorbo by the virtuoso gambist Marin Marais.

Much of the music on this program was written to be heard in the royal chapels of Louis XIV of France and represents some of the most exquisite sacred composition of the French Baroque.

And all are welcome to join the artists for a brief wine-and-cheese reception following the concert.

General Admission: $15
