In this multimedia reflection on her experience growing up with a learning disability, Vermont dancer, choreographer, and storyteller Lida Winfield shares the gifts and heartache that accompanied her struggle to learn to read--which did not happen until her early twenties. Layered with beautiful video imagery that equates drowning and swimming with failure and triumph in pursuing an education that always seemed just beyond her fingertips, this heart-wrenching and inspiring piece of dance/theater encourages understanding and hope.
