Guest conductor Ivars Taurins of the Tafelmusik Chamber Choir in Toronto leads the Vancouver Chamber Choir and the Baroque instrumentalists of La Cetra (Ray Nurse, director) in a programme of Christmas music from the early 18th century. Included are charming works by Buxtehude (Das neugeborne Kindelein), Schütz (Sei gegrüsset, Maria), Albinoni (Magnificat), Purcell (Behold, I bring you glad tidings), Hammerschmidt (O ihr lieben Hirten), Charpentier (In Nativitatem Domini Nostri), Bach (Lobet den Herrn) and the title piece, Buxtehude’s In dulci jubilo (O sweet joy!).
