Bobby Falk presents "Improvisations in Word and Sound" with the
Bobby Falk Group and Frank X Walker. Walker will be joined by fellow Affrilachian poets Ricardo Nazario Colon and Bianca Spriggs. The Bobby Falk Group will be featuring saxophonists Dr. Tommy
Poole and Jake Gorhan, guitarist John Epley, bassist Jenna Mattingly, and pianist Daniel McGeeney.

The Bobby Falk group has performed regularly at several venues around the city since 2006. The band leader Bobby Falk has been a jazz musician all his life, as a composer, drummer and percussionist. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Jazz Studies from the University of Louisville School of Music in 2005, which included jazz studies abroad in Brazil. In addition to performing, Bobby Falk teaches drums and percussion at the Kentucky School for the Blind, as well as private lessons.

Multidisciplinary artist Frank X Walker is a native of Danville, Ky., a graduate of the University of Kentucky, and completed an MFA in Writing at Spalding University in May 2003. He has lectured, conducted workshops, read poetry and exhibited at over 300
national conferences and universities including the Verbal Arts Centre in Derry, Northern Ireland; Santiago, Cuba; University of California at Berkeley; Notre Dame; Louisiana
State University at Alexandria; University of Washington; Virginia Tech; Radford University; and Appalachian State University. He is the editor of two books and the author of 4 poetry collections. He has been featured internationally in print and audiovisualmedia. Walker regularly teaches in writing programs like Fishtrap in Oregon and
SplitRock at the University of Minnesota; currently serves as the Writer in Residence and lecturer of English at Northern Kentucky University; and is the proud editor and publisher of PLUCK!, the new Journal of Affrilachian Art & Culture.
