Improvisation Comedy Weekend Intensive Class with Groundling Alum! June 10, 2006

This is for anyone who is interested in learning the basics, rules, tools, "whys and hows?" behind improvisation, with a Groundlings/character-based emphasis. Taught by Los Angeles GROUNDLINGS alumna Holly Mandel, who founded IMPROVOLUTION! here in NYC in 2002.

Who are the GROUNDLINGS, you ask? SNLs Will Ferrell, Will Forte, Maya Rudolph, Chris Parnell, Chris Katan, Ana Gasteyer, Cheri Oteri and the great Phil Hartman, as well as MAD TVs Mike McDonald and Phil LaMarr, plus Cheryl Hines, Jennifer Coolidge, Lisa Kudrow, Kathy Griffin, Melissa McCarthy, Pee Wee Herman, Mike Hitchcock, and many many film and TV writers.

The beauty of the Groundlings style of improv is that anyone at any level can jump right in and learn through the various games and exercises. And, hey, let's be honest...it's really fun! By the end of the weekend you'll know all you need to know to improvise a scene and create characters.

If you're interested, you can start taking drop-in classes and eventually start performing in shows with us. Yes, it's true. I know...I know...it IS cool.
