That sweater you got from auntie might find its way into the punchline of an improvised game – or the special moment you shared with your fiancé on Christmas Day could inspire a hilarious romp of an improvised scene during GroupMind Foundation’s “Improv Combo Platter” show at 7:30 p.m. , Monday, Dec. 27, at the Avenue Theater.

Improv Combo Platter will offer audiences a sample of improvised comedy performed by some of Denver’s favorite local improvisers – who will take their inspiration for scenes and jokes in part from audience members’ own recent holiday experiences and gifts.

The show is a unique collaboration of comedians from both the short-form (game-style) and long-form (improvised skit) camps, who have come together to raise funds for GroupMind Foundation, a 501c(3) non-profit that aims to support and develop improvisational comedy in the Denver-metro area.

Hosted by Eric Farone of the Bovine Metropolis Theater and Kerstin Caldwall of The Yes! Lab, Improv Combo Platter will feature members of the locally acclaimed improv troupes including Those One Guys, SanScript Players, The Dishwater Blondes, FORK, The Wigs and so many more. Performers will base their scenes and games upon suggestions from the audience, including recently unwrapped gifts and still-fresh holiday happenings.
