Implementing and using Automatic Storage Management with Bernhard de Cock Buning - Munchen, Germany September 15, 2010

Oracle Automatic Storage Management was introduced in Oracle 10g. During this seminar setup, configuration and understanding how Automatic Storage Management works is very important to be able to manage this product correctly. Especially in High Availability environments managing ASM will introduce new challenges for the Oracle DBA and Organization.

We will start with the architecture, how to implement ASM and how it works. After the basic part of ASM we will go into more details looking inside Automatic Storage Management, terms like Extends, Partnership Table, Rebalancing etc. will be discussed. Now the theoretical part is handled it is time in the afternoon to go for the more practical questions like how to troubleshoot, how to deal with performance issues and best practice.

During the topics, demos will be provided to support what was discussed earlier. At the end of the day, participants must have much more knowledge related to the working of ASM and how to deal with this in day-to-day work. During the Seminar Oracle 10g/11g Release 1 will be discussed and as soon as Oracle 11g Release 2 is available, the seminar will be updated with the latest information.
