Creating a Publishing Strategy to Grow Your Practice
Michael McLaughlin, Guerrilla Consulting

For years, consultants have heard this marketing advice: Build credibility with clients and grow your business by publishing your ideas in articles, white papers, surveys, case studies, blogs, newsletters, and books. But many consultants have two problems with this advice?lack of time, and lack of a workable publishing plan.

The inevitable result is that most consultants have limited success getting published, and the marketing impact of that work is minimal. This session will focus on the specifics of a publishing strategy that will generate the full marketing benefit from your efforts.

Specifically, we'll cover:

* How to create a publishing strategy that fits your practice and your personal life

* A framework for organizing your ideas into marketable works

* How to find the publication(s) that will be the most effective for your practice

* An approach for winning over editors with your ideas

* A strategy for generating sales leads while you are writing

* How to get the most use and benefit from your published works.

At the end of this meeting, you'll have the tools to launch, or invigorate, a high-value publishing strategy for your practice.

The speaker is Michael W. McLaughlin, a principal with MindShare Consulting LLC and coauthor of Guerrilla Marketing for Consultants. McLaughlin is the publisher of two newsletters for consultants, Management Consulting News and The Guerrilla Consultant, and the author of an award-winning blog for the professional services industry. Before founding MindShare Consulting, McLaughlin was a partner with Deloitte Consulting, where he spent more than twenty years helping clients and mentoring consultants.
