Illustrating African Wildlife March 29, 2009

African wildlife offers the artist an exciting variety of species to paint -- from big cats to ostriches and great herds of antelope, zebra and giraffe. With the unique combination of gouache and colored pencil on decorative papers, students create colorful wildlife paintings using the zoo's new African Savannah exhibit as inspiration with supplementary photos. Instruction includes sketching, painting techniques and composition.
