With its roots in African Traditions and African American Fraternities and Sororities, stepping is a high energy art form that mixes rhythmic moves, hands clap, foot stomps, call and response. Witness this art form as high school age males and females from the Flint/Genesee County area perform in 'Ill Step Explosion XXI.' The young people performing are from various youth group which are sponsored by local chapters of national fraternities and sororities. This groups have as their core foundation, academic excellence and community service. Proceeds for the event benefits the scholarship programs of the respective youth groups participating in the event.
