An inspirational evening with three of the countries most exciting performance poets.
Lemn Sissay’s latest book The Listener, overflows with love poems, inner-city soap operas, reflections on history, mystery and felicity. The Southbank Centre’s Artist-In-Residence, Sissay’s previous collections include Tender Fingers in a Clenched Fist and Morning Breaks in the Elevator.
One of the most dynamic and radical British performance poets, Patience Agbabi whose powerful collections include Bloodshot Monochrome and Transformatrix is also a formalist, adapting sonnets and sestinas to her own gender-bending sexual politics. Her work straddles boundaries borrowing from other art forms, notably the wordplay, rhythms and rhyming effects of rap. tinkering and toying with language, metre and sound
They are joined by Festival Poet in Residence, Shamshad Khan.
