If Trane Wuz Here is a theatrical jazz band with Savion Glover, reg e gaines and Matana Roberts. TRANE was first performed at the Knitting Factory in New York City in July, 2003. Raw, improvisational in performance and tone, the band uses a dancer, a poet and saxophone player to tribute and celebrate jazz through John Coltrane standards and original jazz music, uplifting the spirit that Coltrane often sought to invoke. The result is a meditative hour and a half tour de force performance that inspires, provokes and cleanses the soul, as if Trane wuz really here. TRANE has performed throughout New York City and most recently in Los Angeles with the Los Angeles Times calling TRANE ??a fantastic dream?.?
