Idaho Virtual Academy Math/Literacy and Middle School Project Day March 2, 2012

Join IDVA families for this Academic Showcase as well as information about the Idaho Virtual Academy. An information booth will be set up near the entrance of the event for information and questions throughout the event. Information for incoming high school students will be available.

Activities will be ongoing throughout the day:

Poetry Reading--An opportunity for students to practice oral presentation and or listening skills. Students can present an original poem or a poem that they have memorized. (A good source for poems to memorize is the K¹² Language Arts materials.) This is an opportunity to learn and practice listening/audience skills.

Math Games--Learn to use and improve computation skills

Math Specialist--Sam Strother from Boise State Universtiy will:

share information about the Idaho Math Initiative
explain why Idaho adopted the Common Core Standards for Math
share information about the Primary Math Assessment
answer your questions about math instruction
Middle School Project Displays--Students in grades 6-8 will showcase their projects for their teachers and peers.

Book Swap--bring a book that you enjoyed to swap for a book that someone else enjoyed.
