Dear Colleagues,

it is my great pleasure to invite you, on behalf of the organizers, to attend the IBRO International Workshop 2010 to be held in Pécs from January 21 to 23, 2010. The Workshop is organized by the Institute of Physiology of the Pécs University, Medical School whose former chairman, Prof. László Lénárd is the honorary president of the meeting.

Pécs University was founded by King Louis The Great in 1367, and as such it is one of the oldest universities in this region of Europe. The congress venue, the Main Building of the Medical School, with the elegant György Romhányi Aula, its spacious foyer floor and galery, the great auditoria, and the available infrastructure will certainly provide an appropriate environment for the Workshop.

The organizers paid particular attention to cover a broad range – from basic theoretical to applied clinical research – of topics of contemporary neuroscience. The scientific program is organized into four plenary lectures and 6 symposia – with the participation of outstanding scientists from all over the world. The two poster sessions will also be an important part of the scientific program allowing participants to present and discuss their newest findings.

In addition to the scientific program, we would also like to make sure that you enjoy your time in Pécs, the fifth largest city in Hungary. The social events of the meeting are to contribute to this and I would like to invite you to join us there. Also, our 2000 year old city – site of the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage, and one of the Cultural Capitals of Europe in 2010 – provides guests with the opportunity to visit unique museums and exhibitions, and to indulge in the delights of famous Hungarian cuisine and excellent local wines.

In the hope of convincing you about the professional and cultural benefits of participating at the IBRO International Workshop 2010, we look forward to seeing you in Pécs next January!
