Iain Banks comes to Ilkley to discuss The Steep Approach to Garbadale: his first mainstream fiction book in five years, an unlikely family saga built round a multi-million pound computer game, called Empire! Banks sprang to widespread (and controversial) public notice with his first novel, The Wasp Factory and has since gained enormous and popular critical acclaim. His number one bestseller, The Crow Road, was adapted for television.
