StandOut Productions and the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center’s Lily Tomlin/Jane Wagner Cultural Arts Center present a screening of the award-winning documentary I Stand Corrected, directed by Andrea Meyerson, followed by a hosted reception and a concert by the film’s subject, transgender jazz bass virtuoso Jennifer Leitham. This special event celebrates the one-year anniversary of the film’s premiere and is a rare opportunity to see the film and Ms. Leitham’s acclaimed trio in one evening.

I Stand Corrected charts Leitham’s extraordinary rise to the top as a virtuoso of the upright bass. John Leitham built a career playing with some of the best: Mel Tormé, Doc Severinson, Woody Herman’s Thundering Herd. She then, after transitioning, had to rebuild her career as Jennifer Leitham. The film explores her story of success and survival, of betrayal and compassion, and the risks one takes to embrace her true self.
