HUMAN RIGHTS IN MEXICO presentation by Tanja Markus of SIPAZ (Servicio Internacional para la Paz, International Service for Peace). 7:00 p.m. at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 218 N. Adams (corner of Emmet and Adams), Ypsilanti. Tanja Markus is an international human rights advocate and team member of SIPAZ in San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico. SIPAZ was founded in 1995, following the Zapatista uprising in 1994, by an international coalition of faith-based and peace groups. SIPAZ monitors the conflict in Chiapas, Mexico and supports the search for nonviolent solutions that contribute to the construction of a just peace.
