This course will be divided into two sections: Section I will cover the Consumers option and Section II will cover the Family option. The legal rights of consumers/family members will be revised and the five themes and challenges for the two options will be examined. Students will be given guidance on how to relate the themes and challenges to each aspect of the two optional topics. Up to date information about changes in the law in relation to the topics will be provided, including the new national law for consumers, The Australian Consumer Law, which began on 1 January 2011. Specific attention will be given to developing evaluative and analytical thinking skills in relation to the two options which are essential for students who want to achieve high results (Band 6 responses) in Legal Studies.
