Tuesday, July 10 - Legal & Policy Issues
Determine the basic legal and policy issues pertaining to paid time off. Identify the elements of coverage and eligibility requirements for Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and California Family Rights Act (CFRA) and determine the impact of FMLA/CFRA on compensation and benefits.

Tuesday, July 17 - Legal Issues (continued)
Identify and apply other laws covering employee medical scenarios, including disability accommodations, pregnancy and new child bonding, as well as family medical, military, civic duty and other leaves of absence.

Tuesday, July 24 - LOA Administration
Determine the legal and practical requirements for administering leaves of absence, including employee notice, employer notices, medical certifications, and retroactive designations.

Tuesday, July 31 - LOA Administration and Return to Work
Determine additional legal and practical requirements for administering leaves of absence, including fitness for duty certifications, job reinstatement periods, and exceptions. Identify and apply return to work obligations and best practices, as well as minimizing the legal risks of retaliation claims.
