Houston Pride Band announces its first concert of the 2012-2013 season, entitled 'Bittersweet'. The free concert will be held at Resurrection Metropolitan Community Church (located at 2025 West 11th Street) on Saturday, October 13, 2012, at 3:00 PM. Donations can be made at the door or by visiting http://www.houstonprideband.org/donations.html. In his poem "In Memoriam", English poet Alfred Tennyson wrote, "'Tis Better to have loved and lost/ Than never to have loved at all." More than 150 years later, the relevance of this quote remains; whether a family member, friend, or significant other, the "bitterwsweet" search for hope after great loss of a loved on is central to the human condition. Through the power of music, the performance will lament the pain of love's absence and celebrate the joy of love's triumph. The Houston Pride Band serves as a community band in Houston’s GLBT community and performs at various community events throughout the year as well as concerts and parades. The Houston Pride Band is open to all brass, woodwind, and percussion players and welcomes musicians of all skill levels.
