GET HOT WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM YOUR FRIENDS…



HOUSTON — Don’t get bummed out by the economy. Like wow, the 9th Annual Houston Hot Sauce Festival will be held September 19 and 20, 2009, at the Stafford Centre at 10505 Cash Rd., Stafford, TX 77477 (yes, we have moved!). Festival hours are Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from Noon to 5 p.m. It’s a cool $5 to get in with free parking. Proceeds benefit Snowdrop Foundation Cancer Research.



The vendors will freak you out. Man, they are coming from all over the country – California, Maryland, Louisiana, Ohio, Florida and Texas. CaJohn’s Fiery Foods, Ohio, is bringing this choice display… This will blow your mind: The Execution Station! It is a station for "climbing the ladder of heat." The victim starts with a "hot" sauce and progresses through even hotter ones and ends with Black Mamba or stronger. Those that survive will get a cherry prize. The paramedic dudes will be close by. We have an unreal amount of products, hundreds of award winning hot sauce, salsa, chips, dips, peppers, spices, jams/jellies, marinades, rubs, wing sauce, and more. Just say lay it on me - there's never a charge for sampling. Rain or Shine we’ll be hangin’! It is one HOT groovy party!



People's Choice Awards is far out. Outta sight fun. There are 15 categories to vote on, but the hippest category is the "Hottest Hot Sauce at the Festival." Savory Hot Sauce, Mariposa, CA, took first place at the last festival with Habanero Punch TKO – it is wicked. The lowdown is the vendors are jacking it up to win that first prize!!!! Don't space out, if you eat it – if you cruise up to staff and say “Like wow, that is soooo Hot” we’re just going to laugh. If it’s called Hot Blood, Big Daddy’s Ass Burn, Captain Thom`s Dia De Los Muertos, Cin Chili, Liquid Stoopid (to name a few), that’s exactly what it means, dig it.



Don’t sweat it, no need to freak out. Bring the old man and old lady, the kiddies and whoever you can drag out. There is something for everyone. Pepper threads, jewelry, vendor stalls with arts and crafts, etc. It’s like Halloween for Chiliheads. Ongoing live entertainment - Blues, Rock, Zydeco, Classic Rock. Great Food Concessions (Yeah man, Texas Crawfish Sausage will be back) and ice cold drinks - Beer, Soda, Water. A Chile-dren's area. Some FREE... very cool.
