WHO: Houston Grand Opera (HGO)

WHAT: HGO returns to the Miller Outdoor Theatre for two FREE performances of The Marriage of Figaro starring artists from the Houston Grand Opera Studio.

The literary sequel to The Barber of Seville, Mozarts The Marriage of Figaro is a light-hearted comedy of manners in which the servants outwit the masters. Bass Ryan McKinny sings the title role of Figaro, who must outmaneuver the Count to protect his beautiful fiancée Susanna, sung by soprano Heidi Stober (Don Pasquale). The lecherous Count and his savvy Countess are sung by baritone Liam Bonner and soprano Tamara Wilson, respectively. Mezzo-soprano Fiona Murphy (Manon Lescaut, 2006) sings the pants role of the young page Cherubino, who has a crush on the Countess. The opera is directed by Sharyn Pirtle and conducted by James Lowe.

LANGUAGE: The Marriage of Figaro will be sung in Italian.

TICKETS: Admission is free of charge. Space on the lawn is first-come, first-served. Tickets for reserved seats in the covered section are available on the day of performance between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at the Miller Theatres Box Office.
