::MOZHGAN (We Are Monsters | San Francisco)::

Throughout summer and fall, we at Housepitality have been booking some of the finest talent from around the world. The biggest names, SF debuts, and huge skill from Barcelona to Boston, Berlin and beyond. But we haven't forgotten that San Francisco itself calls itself home to some of the best in the business. In honor of the great artists that call this city home, we've booked a locals' night once again, and we couldn't be happier.

Headlining our night is the DJ, producer, and label manager Lance De Sardi. Those in the know will be familiar with Lance as the owner of Bang The Box, a successful local record label that began, as do many of the finer things in SF, as a party. The label has now released tracks by up-and-coming superstars Tone Of Arc/Dead Seal, PillowTalk, and has also released many productions by Lance himself. It is, in other words, another SF success story, helping to draw our little city LARGE on the underground house and techno world map.

Lance is moving to the UK next month to further his musical career, and so this party will be his "SF Farewell" party (for now, anyway!). SF will be losing a huge part of its musical history. Come out to wish him well, and dance to another great set from one of SF's musical geniuses.

Providing main room support is another fixture of SF's house music underground, C.J. Larsen, aka CJL, a longtime Housepitality friend and supporter of SF's house music scene. Normally found playing at his Delta Funk underground parties, this time he will be celebrating his birthday by playing for us once again. If you haven't heard one of C.J.'s sets, you've missed a cornerstone of the current scene. Come wish him happy birthday as he helps us get the crowd PUMPED up for Lance's set.

Finally, to complete our all-local lineup, in the Groove Lounge, we will feature a set from local favorite Mozhgan Shariat. Mozhgan has been a fixture on the local scene for many years, DJing and throwing her monthly party WE ARE MONSTERS at SF's favorite house and techno haunt, 222 Hyde. We are excited to finally have her grace our Groove Lounge booth.

Lance De Sardi:

Not willing to claim any one dance genre as his ‘style’, Lance DeSardi's musical output teeters somewhere between the deeper sides of house and techno. At 33 and currently living in San Francisco, his music embraces all of his influences from over the years to the fullest, creating a unique juxtaposition of styles that anyone with discerning taste can get behind.

Hailing from Dallas, Texas, Lance got into music at very early age. After finding an affinity for bands like Nine Inch Nails, Nitzer Ebb, LFO, and 808 State, it was obvious that his calling was in music of the electronic persuasion. As he dug deeper, the raw energy of the sounds from Detroit and Chicago came calling, and djing and producing weren’t far behind…

Immediately after getting his production and dj career under way, Lance uprooted and moved to California. There in the fog and lights, he found his element and quickly became a mainstay in the west-coast house music community, releasing records on labels like Classic, Naked Music, Coco Machete, Seasons, and PIAS, to name a few. With his 2003 underground hit “Tie Me Up”, under the moniker Land Shark, or his huge remix of Zap Mama’s “Rafiki”, he’s firmly solidified his place in dance music lore.

These days Lance has his a hand in many different aspects of music. He runs a label and coinciding club/underground night called Bang the Box, has a slew of new releases set to go, and even does mix-down and pre-mastering work out of his home base studio, Drums & Wires. With house music back in the dance world’s favor, 2012 is shaping up to be quite a year for one of SF’s finest.
