FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

12/1/2007 DALLAS, TEXAS: Dallas-based Hour of the Wolf will bring their neo-folk/gothic/punk music to the Curtain Club on January 6th, 2008. They will be performing selections from their EP "Beneath the Sign of Mars" and new work from their upcoming LP.

Heavily influenced by poetry, mythology, Pre-Christian European history, and the animal nature of man, the band member's varied backgrounds lend to their unique style. Lex, lead singer and guitarist, honed his musical skills while training to be a soldier. To beat the boredom of basic training, he spent his free time composing music set to the poetry he had been writing for years.

"We want to bring lethal efficiency back to music. No more soft pop sounds, baggy jeans and backwards caps. People today seem proud of dressing and acting like slobs. We've had enough." That military influence transcends not only their clean, solid sound, but their disciplined style, including the symbol for the band: a coiled whip.

Cin, who plays synth and sings with a 4 octave range, is trained in classical music. Besides her music influences, from Billy Holiday to Depeche Mode, she is also a part-time dominatrix.

“I'm always looking for ladies to bring up on stage so I can have them sit right by my feet to keep me company. Of course, I’m the whip-cracker for the band, literally.”

The drummer Kurtz, a published author and professional artist, lends to the more spiritual elements of the band. As an Alchemist, he has been using art as a form of religious exploration for years.

“Music seemed the most logical path for me after my paintings. I use art as a religion rather than just the expression of a faith. Drums, therefore, are for me an intense form of worship.”

James, whose solid bass riffs and computer skills add to the more tranquil sounds of the band, has been composing and arranging music for years in his own side projects. "Yeah, the band's real cool. I dig it."

Tickets are $8 before the show, $10 at the door. 17 and up. To buy tickets, email us at
