This masterclass gives musicians the opportunity to seek advice and tips from these professional musicians.

Having originally embarked upon a career in electronics, Fergus Kerr is now a freelance French Horn player based in Scotland. He is a frequent player with all of the Scottish orchestras, in particular the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, and he also regularly travels to Gateshead to play at The Sage with Northern Sinfonia.

Pianist Lauryna Sableviciute commenced her specialist music studies at a very young age upon entering the M.K. Ciurlionis School of Arts in Vilnius (Lithuania); following on from this she graduated from the Music Academy of Lithuania under Professor Birute Vainiunaite. In 1998 Lauryna moved to Scotland after winning the scholarship for accompaniment at the RSAMD. She eventually graduated from the RSAMD with a Masters degree in Music Performance having studied with Professor Fali Pavri.

Lauryna has accumulated several international piano prizes over the years: Czech Republic, Lithuania, and Scotland and continues to maintain a busy recital schedule as a soloist and chamber musician, giving countless solo recitals throughout the UK and Lithuania.

Violinist Andrea Gajicbegan her musical training at St Mary’s Music School, Edinburgh. Aged 12, she performed Bruch’s Scottish Fantasy at St James’s Palace in London for Yehudi Menuhin’s 60th birthday celebration. Two years later, she was invited by Sylvia Rosenberg to study with her at the Peabody Institute, Baltimore, where she won first prize in the American String Teachers Association Violin Competition.

Pop culture icon, Madonna, is one of Andrea’s past violin pupils. Andrea plays on a violin made by Nicolaus Gagliano in 1766.
