Thirty years ago, Nancy G. Brinker made a promise to her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, that she would do everything in her power to rid the world of breast cancer. This October, Susan G. Komen for the Cure is honoring the 30-year impact of that promise with an historic evening of awards and entertainment at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. The celebration will recognize global leaders at the forefront of the fight and honor all supporters in our mission to end breast cancer. Every 68 seconds, breast cancer claims a woman's life worldwide. Honoring the Promise will acknowledge the significant progress that has been made in the fight against breast cancer, and focus on the work that remains before we can truly celebrate the realization of a world without breast cancer.
